Published Investigation Reports

A marine safety investigation means an investigation or inquiry, into a marine casualty or marine incident, conducted with the objective of preventing marine casualties and marine incidents from recurrence. The investigation includes the collection and analysis of evidence to identify causal and contributory factors to determine lessons learned and the development of safety recommendations as necessary.

In accordance with the Bahamas Merchant Shipping Act and under SOLAS Chapter I Regulation 21 and Chapter XI Regulation 6, the BMID undertakes to investigate all very serious marine casualties, the findings of which will be provided to the Organisation.
