Walker High School campus of The Bahamas Maritime Cadet Corps (BMCC) welcomed senior shipping executives who were participating in interagency meetings held in Nassau. Hans Mol, Managing Director of GreenSea Chartering, and Gro Isadora, Legal Counsel of the Caiano Group used the opportunity to share their experience and knowledge of the maritime sector through an interactive session with the students. Both GreenSea and Caiano operate Bahamas flagged refrigerated ships which are engaged in global fisheries transshipment activities. Mrs Isadora and Mr Mol were inspired by the numbers, diversity and enthusiasm of the students. These students represent the future of the industry in The Bahamas as well as adding to the much needed global seafarer pool. The BMCC is presently experiencing unprecedented growth and success with over 400 cadets enrolled nationwide in the maritime programme that is aimed at introducing and preparing high school students for career opportunities in the maritime industry and to build future national capacity. The programme, which is supported by the Bahamas Maritime Authority, was established over 20 years ago and has a presence in six islands; New Providence, Grand Bahama, Inagua, Exuma, Eleuthera and Abaco.
