IMO MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION COMMITTEE (MEPC) – 84th session

The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) handles IMO’s environmental work, including preventing and controlling pollution from ships under MARPOL—covering oil, chemicals, sewage, garbage, air pollution and greenhouse gases. It also oversees ballast water management, anti‑fouling systems, ship recycling, pollution response, and the designation of special and sensitive sea areas.
