The Bahamas Marks World Maritime Day 2026 in Blue

The Bahamas Maritime Authority joined the international maritime community in marking World Maritime Day 2026 by illuminating the Manx Dockendale Corporate Centre, home of the Bahamas Ministry of Transport, in blue.

The initiative recognised this year’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) theme, “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence,” which highlights the importance of translating international maritime policies and standards into effective implementation.

The illumination provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of maritime to The Bahamas and the vital role the sector plays in supporting safety, security, environmental protection and global trade.

The BMA was pleased to welcome The Hon. Leon Lundy, Minister of Transport, to the initiative, reinforcing the shared commitment of the Ministry and the Authority to supporting a strong and effective maritime sector.

The BMA extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Transport for joining in this international initiative and helping to shine a light on the importance of maritime to The Bahamas and the wider global community.
