Quality and Safety Rank High for The BMA at Guangdong Shipowners Association Seminar Category BMA News Date Posted 06 November 2025 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The Bahamas Maritime Authority was proud to be one of only two major foreign registries to receive the opportunity to address the Guangdong Shipowners Association seminar organised in collaboration with the China Classification Society (CCS). The seminar, which took place at the end of October, was attended by more than 200 delegates from all strata of Chinese shipping including the classification society, shipowners, ship managers, and the China Maritime Safety Administration. The BMA’s Asia Regional Director, Captain Jahangir Hussain was invited to join the distinguished panel of speakers. He delivered a formal presentation on The BMA’s quality and safety standards – platforms on which it has built an excellent reputation in the industry and at the IMO. Capt Hussain subsequently participated in a Q & A session, answering various questions from the audience. This was the second time The BMA has been invited to this annual event, reflecting the positive way the Chinese shipping industry views The Bahamas, and demonstrating that it is keen to strengthen existing collaboration with the registry. The BMA is grateful to the organisers, particularly the CCS, whose vital support was essential in this successful engagement.
