Inspiring the Next Generation: Students & Interns at The BMA Category BMA News Date Posted 10 September 2025 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn At the Bahamas Maritime Authority, we believe that investing in young people is vital to the future of the maritime industry. By opening our doors to students and interns, we aim to provide experiences that build awareness of the sector, develop skills, and inspire future careers. This summer, the BMA welcomed students and interns to both our London and Nassau offices. High school students Amelia Durbazevs and Joe Wigglesworth gained work placement experience in Registration and IT, while Tori Gaitor joined the Registration Department in Nassau. Gabriella Francis, a Bahamian law student, worked with Registration and Inspections & Surveys, and Tatyana Lockhart, also from Nassau, contributed across Marketing and Inspections. Luke McCarroll from Dublin spent time with Seafarers & Manning, exploring how a registry supports crew training and wellbeing. Together, they represent the next generation of maritime talent. We are proud to have supported their development and look forward to continuing to encourage young people to explore the diverse opportunities within the global shipping industry.
