Gala Reception to Launch Posidonia 2026

The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) officially launched its Posidonia 2026 programme with a gala reception last Saturday in Athens, bringing together shipowners, managers, industry partners, and members of the international maritime community.

The event was led by the Hon. Leon Lundy, Minister of Transport, who headed the Bahamas delegation during his first international maritime engagement since assuming office last month. He was joined by BMA Board Chairman Jacqueline M. Simmons, Deputy Chairman Peter John Goulandris, Managing Director & CEO Captain Dwain Hutchinson, and senior members of the Authority’s leadership team.

Addressing guests, Minister Lundy reaffirmed The Bahamas’ commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and service to the global shipping community, while highlighting the longstanding and valued relationship between The Bahamas and the Greek shipping sector.

The reception provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with existing clients and industry stakeholders, while reinforcing the BMA’s commitment to supporting owners and managers through responsive service, regulatory leadership, and meaningful engagement.

Held against the backdrop of Posidonia, one of the world’s leading maritime exhibitions, the event marked the beginning of a week of meetings and discussions focused on the future of shipping, international cooperation, decarbonisation, and the evolving needs of the global maritime industry.
