First trip to Southern China for The Bahamas Maritime Authority

The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) was pleased to organise two trips to China earlier in the year, to both Shanghai and Beijing.  More recently these have been followed up for our first ever visit to the Southern China shipping hubs in Guangzhou and Shenzhen during the first week of November.

It was a busy week with the team meeting with high level officials of the China Classification Society (CCS), a number of large, state-owned shipping companies, and private shipowners/managers in addition to other stakeholders from the many diverse sectors of the Chinese shipping industry in the region.

Regional Director for Asia, Capt. Jahangir Hussain, reported that the visit has further extended the relationships that The BMA has already built with companies in other areas of China. There will be further visits arranged throughout Far East Asia during the coming months as the Authority continues to develop its links with shipping hubs throughout the region.
