BMA’s Captain Ghulam Hussain Awarded Chartered Master Mariner (CMMar) Designation Category BMA News Date Posted 02 March 2026 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn We are proud to congratulate Captain Ghulam Hussain, CMMar, LL.M, MBA, FNI, FCILT, FICS, MNI, Deputy Director of Maritime Affairs at the Bahamas Maritime Authority, on being awarded the prestigious Chartered Master Mariner (CMMar) designation by the Honorable Company of Master Mariners on 19 February 2026 at the historic Liverpool Town Hall. The ceremony was chaired by Adrian Scales, FNI, Chairman of the Registration Authority, with the awards presented by Captain Sir Ian McNaught KCVO MNM. The CMMar is widely regarded as the gold standard of professional excellence for Master Mariners, recognising exceptional competence, leadership, and meaningful contribution to the global maritime industry. Established in 2013 by the Honorable Company of Master Mariners in collaboration with The Nautical Institute, the designation is awarded following a rigorous, evidence-based application and interview process assessing professional knowledge, leadership, and industry impact. Captain Hussain, a member of The Nautical Institute since 1989 who continues to serve in leadership roles within the organisation, reflected on the honour, stating: “I am deeply honoured and humbled by this award, which recognises the efforts I have dedicated to my professional career. I remain indebted to all those from whom I continue to learn. Let us maintain our passion to strive for continued growth and to give back to the industry that has given us so much.
