BMA Participates in MARE Forum Chios

The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) recently participated in the inaugural MARE Forum Chios, which brought together a broad cross-section of the maritime industry, including shipowners, managers, classification societies, insurers, financiers, legal experts, training providers, academia, and government representatives.

Representing the BMA, Managing Director & CEO Dwain Hutchinson served as a panellist during the session “Geopolitics First: The Game Has Changed – Mastering Global Waters Under Threats.” Discussions explored the growing impact of geopolitical fragmentation on global shipping, including sanctions, shifting trade alliances, financing trends, supply chain security, and the evolving role of flag States in an increasingly complex operating environment.

The Forum highlighted the enduring importance of Greek shipping to the global economy, with strong participation from internationally active Greek maritime companies and industry leaders. Among the key supporters of the event was Chartworld Shipping Corporation, one of the BMA’s largest Greek shipowner clients.

The BMA values opportunities such as the MARE Forum to engage in meaningful dialogue with industry stakeholders and contribute to discussions shaping the future of global shipping.
