BMA Participates in CLIA Cruise Forward Summit 2025 Category BMA News Date Posted 14 November 2025 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) attended and participated in the CLIA Cruise Forward Summit 2025 in Miami, held from 4–6 November, where industry leaders gathered to discuss innovation, sustainability, and the future of global cruising. The BMA delegation included Captain Dwain Hutchinson, CEO & Managing Director; Felicia Alleyne, Director of the BMA’s New York Office; and Katie Clarke, Director, Nassau Office. Captain Hutchinson took part in the “Operationalizing Risk” plenary session, sharing insights from a regulatory perspective on how risk-based thinking can strengthen competition and operational performance. Throughout the summit, CLIA shared key insights on the industry’s global economic significance – with the cruise sector contributing $198.8 billion to the world economy and supporting 1.8 million jobs worldwide. Passenger demand remains strong, with 37.7 million people forecast to cruise in 2025 and 82% of past cruisers planning to sail again. Ports across the globe are reporting steady growth in passenger arrivals, while cruise lines continue to adopt environmental technologies and sustainable practices. It was a pleasure engaging with partners and industry colleagues throughout the event and strengthening the relationships that drive our continued collaboration and growth.
