BMA Engages on Green Shipping & Gains Industry Insights at Cyprus Maritime Category BMA News Date Posted 17 October 2025 Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn The green environment, carbon emissions control, and IMO MEPC 83 were all high up on the agenda during the Cyprus Maritime Conference. Encompassed in these issues were the measures needed to improve ship energy efficiency as well as further examination of the alternative fuels currently under consideration by the maritime industry. Discussions were led by distinguished speakers from major Cypriot and Greek shipowners. While the topics under discussion were a big draw, the team from The Bahamas Maritime Authority was also keen to connect with business partners and customers. We were pleased to meet with representatives from FML Ship Management, InterMaritime Marine Services, V. Ships, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, Columbia Shipmanagement and Wallem Group. It was a great opportunity for an open exchange of views on the current state of the industry in addition to looking for potential future collaborations, not to mention the enjoyment of the evening receptions and parties. Cyprus is home to technical and crewing operations for many of the major shipping management companies, making it an important maritime centre with opportunities for The Bahamas. Over the course of the week, we engaged with and had fruitful dialogue with stakeholders, who provided invaluable feedback on our flag registration services.
