SUMMARY:Crew Welfare Week
DESCRIPTION:The COVID-19 has marked a new chapter in the nature of seafarers’ work. This pandemic\, which has been challenging for the whole world\, has also pushed seafarers to their limits as they are working long and hard\, facing unprecedented circumstances in order to keep trade flowing. Now\, more than ever\, seafarers need to be acknowledged for their valuable role\, designated as key workers to ensure priority vaccination and access to safe transit and travel.  As a result the whole industry has shed its attention to seafarers; wellness\, well-being and prosperity or in other words their welfare.\nAs seafarers play a vital role for a safer and sustainable shipping\, the topic of Crew Welfare is now more topical than ever. With that in mind\, we are pleased to announce the Crew Welfare Week as an industry initiative to discuss and embrace the role of the seafarers in shipping.\nCrew Welfare is on the top of the agenda of several industry stakeholders with calls from the Industry by the Neptune Declaration on “Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change” supported by more than 750 organisations of all types across the industry setting aside the regulatory requirement in many standards (ILO MLC\, TMSA\, DryBMS).
